About Jeremy
Born and raised in Tampa, Fl., I attended Florida State University, and graduated with a B.A. in International Affairs and French with a minor in Spanish. I then joined the U.S. Peace Corps as an education volunteer in Benin, West Africa. Upon my return from my Peace Corps service, I was invited to serve again as a U.S. Crisis Corps volunteer in connection with CARE International and United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees in the position of Education Director for the Mwange Refugee Camp in Zambia, Southern Africa. I returned to the US and moved out to Arizona where I was an 8th grade Writing teacher on the Navajo Nation. In order to further pursue my own education, I enrolled in the Framingham State College Polish work-study program. I lived and worked in Gliwice, Poland while earning my Masters in Education. I then returned to the US and worked as an Assistant Director and Director of Head Start centers in Dallas before accepting the position of Environmental Education Coordinator with the City of Frisco. This position gives me the opportunity to work with citizens and students on a daily basis to help improve our environment. I visit our schools almost every day in order to work with students, teachers, and staff to develop positive educational learning techniques geared towards environmental awareness and sustainability.
Currently, I am the Environmental and Youth Protection Chair for the Frisco PTA, giving me the chance to interact with other citizens and parents of Frisco in order to better our community’s and children’s health. This school year I also accepted the position of Area 15 PTA Environmental Chair which helps coordinate PTA activities in districts including Frisco, Plano, Richardson, Allen, McKinney, Grayson County, etc. I am also an adjunct professor at Collin County Community College in the Developmental Education and ESL department.
As everyone that knows me understands, I am a big health and sports buff. In order to incorporate this more into my life and educational pursuit, I also teach spin classes at my local gym. Lastly, as I try to always practice what I preach, I am a life-long learner and am currently working on my second Masters, this time in Environmental Policy and Project Management.
